Texas State Technical College Airport

The Texas State Technical College Airport is conveniently located less than a mile east of Interstate-35 and just eight miles north of downtown Waco on the campus of Texas State Technical College Waco. The impressive facility serves as the Texas home of Air Force One, as well as being large enough to serve as an alternate landing site for the space shuttle. The industrial park at TSTC Waco Airport covers several hundred acres of prime industrial space that are available for long term lease alongside Waco's largest employer, L-3 Communications. The airport offers the unmatched combination of hundreds of acres of undeveloped land adjacent to impressive runways in conjunction with the assets of the technical college. The airport's location provides corporations with two additional important assets. The first is the highly skilled technical workforce to draw from, and the second is the opportunity that TSTC provides to implement tailor made programs to fit a corporation's specific needs. The classrooms are located within blocks of the industrial park and could be used for new trainees, to improve specific areas of training or to provide employees with ongoing training.

The airport has two parallel runways that provide for simultaneous arrivals and departures. The primary runway measures 8,600 feet x 150 feet and the dimensions of the alternate runway are 6,400 feet x 150 feet. The primary runway is a jet-marked all-weather asphalt runway. It is lighted and instrumented and is stressed to handle wide-bodied jets weighing up to 450,000 pounds depending on landing gear configuration. Operational lighting systems at the TSTC facility include medium-intensity runway lights, a rotating beacon and VASI and MALSR lights. The airport's navigational aids include GPS NDB and ILS instrument approaches and the airport is staffed with FAA certified controllers. The parking apron covers approximately 3,300,000 square feet.
